J.K. Rowling launches Harry Potter At Home for kids and parents on lockdown

J.K. Rowling has announced the news we all need to hear right now.

The author is spreading some magic during the coronavirus crisis by launching Harry Potter At Home.

Sharing the news on Twitter, Rowling wrote: “Parents, teachers and carers working to keep children amused and interested while we’re on lockdown might need a bit of magic, so I’m delighted to launch http://harrypotterathome.com.”

The brand new website has been built to “cast a Banishing Charm on boredom” for Harry Potter fans all around the world.

According to the website it features: “All the latest magical treats to keep you occupied – including special contributions from Bloomsbury and Scholastic, nifty magical craft videos (teach your friends how to draw a Niffler!), fun articles, quizzes, puzzles and plenty more for first-time readers, as well as those already familiar with the wizarding world.”

The website has a menu bar with many different features, including news from the Wizarding World team, quizzes for all levels and a J.K. Rowling archive where you can “explore the inner workings of the wizarding world with a collection of writing from J.K. Rowling.”

Also featured is House Pride with more information about the houses.

Users can create a new account for the site, or use their Pottermore login if they already have one.

Since tweeting the news thousands of fans have revealed their excitement on social media.

One wrote: “This is fantastic, thank you for continuing to bring people endless joy! My family really needs this now because my son will be having his 1st birthday all alone without family and friends. He will have Harry Potter though.”
